One Month

I would not give a fig for the simplicity this side of complexity, but I would give my life for the simplicity on the other side of complexity. – Oliver Wendell Holmes

Well, today is the one month anniversary (day not the actual date itself) of Jade's passing. Been a day of mixed emotions. There are moments of such longing and lonliness with the separation as well as moments of peace. Thought I would do a brief email mentioning this and give two quotes that really reflect Jade. Jade loved reading about Teddy Roosevelt, Victor Hugo and Oliver Wendell Holmes. Anyone who knew Jade for more than two seconds knew how strongly and passionately he felt about personal integrity - - hence the final quote.

Part of that first quote will be on the backside of Jade's headstone. Speaking of which, we're hoping it'll be set by the middle of April. It's a custom headstone (big shock Jade and I wanted to do it our way and design it ourselves) and we've been working on it for months and months. It'll be ready in a couple weeks and then they'll wait a bit to let the ground settle.

Garrett and I are doing ok. I am finally feeling better, getting some rest and eating more nutritious things other than Wonder bread and Sprite from having the flu. We go to the cemetery frequently and both of us enjoy it. The springtime weather has been fabulous to enjoy as well. So . . . we're hanging in there and we'll make it. I always tell people I'm just too stupid to know of any other way to do this.

Integrity is one of several paths. It distinquishes itself from the others because it is the right path and the only one upon which you will never get lost." - M.H McKee

We love you much and are grateful for your continued love, kindness and friendship.
