Giddy-Up
To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else." - Emily Dickinson
Hey there. Ain't that the truth. It seems life is so busy it is hard to find time to do anything else. I think I was lying to myself when I thought it would slow down after summer ended. Garrett is doing a neighborhood/mom preschool. We do it Tues/Thurs for 90 minutes and the kids (7 of them) are having fun. I only have to teach once every six weeks so it's not too bad for me. Garrett and I also go to library storytime on Weds which he also loves. Then factor in my work and other miscellaneous things and the months are seeming to fly by. You'll notice I missed doing an email update in Aug. That month totally got away from me. I was hoping to send an update everybody once a month for this year, but opps, missed one. We are busy with good things though. It's just too busy at times. I'm also trying to get some outdoor projects done before winter comes on and that's taking some time too. We had Jade's birthday in Aug. Garrett loved the birthday party he and I did for "Daddy". I'm glad he liked it since I was gritting my teeth the whole day. We had balloons, cookies, etc... and Garrett was thrilled he got to blow out the candle on the sugar cookie. Garrett and I went to West Yellowstone with some family last week. It was a really nice getaway but Jade and I went there twice last fall and there are so many reminders everywhere of him. As I've said before, you just try your best to live with the constant dull ache in your heart. I've attached two pictures from last week. Garrett really, really wanted to be a cowboy (alone, thank you very much, without his mother) on the bucking horse and he did quite well balancing as he posed. I thought the saddled buffalo was hysterical and he consented to sit with me on the buffalo. Thought you'd get a laugh from seeing them.
"Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears"
Autumn was Jade's favorite season. He never thought of it as the ending of summer but rather as a beginning (starting the school year, a new year coming soon, etc...). There are so many reminders of him now too. We would often go on drives to look at the leaves and wildlife on these crisp, fall evenings. I love fall too and am ready for it, but not the holidays. Garrett and I are going to put the pumpkins and corn stalks on the porch this week and I love the cooler weather but am not thrilled for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and January coming. All in all, we're doing pretty good. (Especially after watching all the coverage of Katrina and Rita. I know our life can always get worse) Thanks for your love and friendship!
