Journals

Howdy. It's Tues morning and I'll try to get in all the updates from the last couple days.

Jade is feeling better since the fever has broken and stayed as just a low grade fever. He's still not eating but getting the nutrition TPN through his line. Sleep is fair some nights nonexistent other nights. He has had multiple platelete and blood transfusions over the weekend and Mon.

Today is day 9 and hopefully we start the climb up and out of this black hole of bottoming out. He is more alert and talkative than last week. His counts are all still low but hopefully with the transfusions and starting the nuepogen last Sun will help get him bounced back. His mouth has been sluffing off the lining but he has avoided big open mouth sores to this point. That is a huge bonus. Getting his digestive system to work this week is the next hurdle.

All the cultures regarding bacterias continued to come back negative so they are thinking his infection has been viral. One of the doctors said he is aware of a similar virus that's going around the valley in general. We're not sure how he got it but we're still careful about what is allowed in his room.

Garrett was able to visit on Sunday and both loved it. Jade read Garrett some books, fed him animal crackers and of course, tickled him to death. Garrett loved it all.

Thanks for the love and support. I'm getting lots of birthday cards and it'll be so fun to surprise him on Thursday with all your cards and notes. Thanks for everything! Take care!
