New Line

Hey there. Hopefully everyone is having a good wknd. It's Sat night and we're hoping to actually get to bed at a reasonable hour. Jade had his new line put in on Fri morning and it went fairly well all in all. They put the larger, triple lumen line in and then took the old one out. They put the new one in the left side of his chest. His old one has been in on the right side.

He's doing pretty good. Quite tender and sore at his neck (where they have to make an incision and tunnel in) and the sight where the line comes out of his chest. The right side is also a little tender due to having the other one removed. He's been taking some Lortab and trying to rest. We've been hanging out here at the house, although I had to dash out this morning for an adoption appt. This new line has more maintenance with it than the previous one. I have to flush each of the three lines twice a day (draw out 3 cc's of blood, run 10 cc's of saline and then 2 cc's of heparin.) It's better to be able to do it all here at home rather than go to the hospital though.

Tmrw should be a quiet, restful day for him as well. Chemo starts bright and early on Mon. We are really hoping to get some sleep and get geared up physically, mentally and emotionally for this week.

Thanks for the continued prayers, faith, hope, emails, calls and cards. It makes such a huge difference to us both. We are very grateful for your kindness and thoughtfulness. Take care and we'll keep you posted as we go into this week.................

Much love......................Tanya and co.
