Sidney, the Emu

Hey everybody. It's Monday night and we're just hanging out. We had an appt with the oncologist this afternoon. Jade's blood work looks fine although his counts will be plummeting in the next couple days. His oncologist continues to be pleased with how his body is tolerating the intense doses of chemo. Jade did have traces of blood in his urine on Fri so they kept him longer at chemo and gave him more mesna to help his bladder/kidneys. We did fluids (saline & mesna & magnesium) on Sat and Sun and we were both grateful to have that completed last night. Jade will have a quiet week this week to rest and recover while he's isolated from most of the living world.

Fri Jade was interviewed by Scott McKane for FOX 13 and it was aired on Sun night (5 pm) and again this morning. It was a pretty good spot all in all. Jade felt a little bad that his sob story came after the story about Sidney, the emu, at the Hoggle Zoo. (No cause for alarm, Sidney is fine just doing tricks and enjoying a lovely, spring Sunday.) I guess you can't always get the breaks. I'm not sure when the DNews will be printing their article. I'll keep you posted for when it comes.

Jade's niece has been working on it along with help from her friends and father/Jade's brother. It looks really good and I know they have more planned to add to it.

Thanks for all the hard work everyone has been doing from fund raising efforts to spreading the word about Jade to helping me with errands. We are so grateful for all the emails, letters and phone calls. We appreciate the support, faith and encouragement, as does Sidney, the emu.
